Concept art of a human Mars mission spacecraft. The vehicle is composed of six pressurized segments, each roughly the size of an ISS module, arranged in a circular configuration and interconnected by passageways. A diagonal tunnel links modules across the ring, allowing crew to shorten travel between distant sections. This design also enhances safety, providing an alternate escape route in the event of pressure loss in any single segment.
Each module is dedicated to key systems, including a greenhouse, laboratories, storage areas, a 3D printer, crew quarters, a flight deck with navigation computer, and an airlock equipped with a robotic arm and docking port.
The aft section of the spacecraft mounts three VASIMR engines for propulsion
